From what I've read aswell, they'll be doing a matchmaking ladder system similar too Starcraft/wow arena etc for 5v5 matches. Guess it sort of kills team leagues to some extent, but this can only be a good thing for playing competitively.

I just hope its not turned into a COD like public shooter, CSS is like the last and probarly only decent competitive team-based FPS going.

They are holding an event the now with all the old school cs moguls and professionals to get the competitive aspects right in the game, for me thats good enough reason to be excitied about it. Consoles or not, if it connects the source and 1.6 communties then it will be huge.

Was it Valve who created the surf and the zombie gameplay? Or was that someone from the outside?

I really really want them to bring back the car thing from 1.6. I was much younger, but that was the most fun I've had in CS. People just driving big ass trucks in big ass maps with only knives, all trying to run over each other. On top of that, some servers had hooks - I LOVE THAT! One time I was in a server with a spider-man swinging thing, but it was shut down ... never found it again. What the hey.

Well valve didn't create counterstrike itself, it was a group of uni students (or something along the lines of this) who made it as a mod on the half life engine.

Valve did end up buying the rights to counterstrike and it was them that made CS:Source.
