PC Upgrades

Aye, so, thinking I might upgrade my PC with new CPU/Graphics/RAM potentially, however I have paid literally less than zero attention to developments over the 2 and a half years since I got this. This is what I have just now:

From the quick read I had last night it sounds like I wouldn't gain much from a CPU/Ram upgrade, so maybe just a new graphics card..or two?

My initial thoughts are:

I've got the older version of that - the 580GTX - its a really awesome card

Get an amd 7970, its better at higher resolutions then the 680 and its cheaper. That said both cards deliver around the 100 fps mark on 1080p resolutions - so i see no reason to buy a more expensive 680 for a performance increase you won't see. And as you have 30'' monitors then I think the 7970 is better anyways.

Think the Motherboard is nVidia only.. Might be wrong though..

Won't matter what GPU you put in. Unless you want two. But one single card is usually a better solution unless you're getting top tier performance cards. Then you may be in trouble if the card is SLi only. But it's not uncommon for motherboards to support both SLi and CrossFire now.

usually amd motherboards didn't support nvidia and intel used to support both. But yeah what dim said, for a single screen set-up there is no need to crossfire if you using the gtx 680 or 7970. They both are complete overkill for single screen resolutions.
