I can't seem to use the shoutbox.
When I press enter or click the submit button I just get to a new page with the shoutbox in it and the button will be gone.

Seems to happen in both IE8 and IE7.
I don't wanna be forced into using firefox and it should work if the code is following w3c rules.

Please help? :P

Doesn't seem to be any problems for me tested it out using IE7 on my crappy win98 machine at work and its fine

can't find any issue with it. also if it follows w3c rules it won't work correctly in IE, cause IE doesn't follow them =P

Well either way it doesnt work for me.
The IE7 is at work and the IE8 at home, so its even seperate environments.

But Ill see if I can get some more info to find a solution.

Having just tested it again, it appears to only happen in the 64-bit version of IE. God knows why that'd make any difference, but apparently it does. the behaviour on the 64-bit version makes no sense. it shouldn't go to the shoutbox page at all =P

Side note: Shoutbox is now limited to displaying the most recent 30 shouts, may edit that number later but seems reasonable atm.

Install Firefox, Opera or Chrome.

Are you actually telling me to install another browser because something doesnt work?
Maybe its just better to find the solution?

Not nice to make something to tell a customer: "oh well sorry doesnt work on your browser, just use another"

But since at work my internet is through Citrix I have to wait till I get home to see what the actual problem is.

Not to be rude but we aren't a shop, and you are not a customer, so i don't really get why your giving us the TCF stuff. Changing code for 1 person is most likely an extreme amount of hassle for jonnie to fix for a really small part of the site that's just random rubbish posted on it. Of course it's personal preference what browser you use, but the simple fix is download another browser and view on it, if it matters so much.

You should shy away from using IE anyway. :p

Was just a bit annoyed by the short answer: go download another browser.

And tbh most ppl dont have a problem, so Im trying to find out why I do, thats all.
I hoped someone knew what the problem was and that isnt a helpful answer.

Again I don't expect anything, just was curious for myself what the actual "problem" is.
And I said Ill try to find it myself so if others have the same prob in the future they know why =)

I do have firefox btw so no worries lol
