The Jazz Scene

Hey,

For one of my assignments we were to create a textured 3D scene that has some sort of backstory. The only reason the lecturer wanted the backstory part was because he's a fussy bastard. Anywho, I'v mine nearly completed so I though I'd share some rendered screengrabs of it.

I was going for a Jazz bar type style, however the Sax is meant to be alive and playing itself so there's an element of fantasy about it.

The scene plan can be read here, if you're interested. http://www.feckingeejit.com/Scene%20Plan.doc

I created it in 3Ds Max 7. The Sax was the hardest object. I had to use a loft with bends applied to it then tinker with it's geometry. The table was tricky enough too. The table lights are just a hallowed sphere with an omni light inside it. I used an opacity map texture on it to allow the light to go through the object. The rest are all straight forward diffuse textures.

Any feedback welcomed!

wow that's really quite awesome.

I tried playing with that software once, it resulted in me crying and uninstalling it =P

Yeah it's the worst program I'v ever worked with. Its just buttons upon buttons and menus with sub-menus that have more sub-menus etc, etc. The interface is horrible and extremely intimidating, but it can produce pretty results. :ugeek:

Brickwall could use some bumbmapping and the light hits the floor infront of the stage a bit to hard atm. But so far I'm liking it. :)

I understand it may be hard - but more shadowing would make that look awesome

Yeah I'm going to roughen up the brick wall tomorrow, and I need to mess about with the lights some more to stop it flooding the stage texture out.
