Drawing a class portrait of my class for Yearbook, 14 classmates + 1 teacher.
I am using every little bit of my creativity to draw everyone unique, so after this I am taking a break from drawing cartoons so that my brain can fill up. The second paige is starting to get worse. And I also have to color them.

Been sort of inactive since I've been spending hours on this. I'll be finished in 2-3 weeks.

Finally after 1 month I'm done.
And It really pains me that I've put so much detail into the coloring of each one of them, and when you look at the whole thing, you don't see any of it :(

it's true - but wow, great work. when you mention that there is a significant amount of detail; you realise how much effort has been put into it.

you have put a lot of effort into the shading, the only problem is if that shading was real life he would be deformed

what i cant work out is, where is the light coming from in this picture of the black guy

is it coming from above him, below him or from the left side. if this was the case there wouldnt be any shading needed except from maybe the upper right part of the picture

Thanks :D
I spent the entire monday from 11:00-23:00 working on this. I am surprised that I am not blind yet.

I looked "deformed" up on google and I saw "deformed baby face" so I am pretty confused. But if you mean that if I would have used light coloring (on 0 in the menu), like if I was to do a portrait and make it look real, then it would look weird?

I know the lighting is confusing. There is no specific way that the light is coming from. I just wanted everyone to have some light on their face because they kinda looked empty without it. I am not good at shading, because I have no idea how the shading would fall on the person and it also depends on his bone structure. And to what you said, than the dude at the right top and his chicken would have all the light, while the rest would not have any because he is blocking the view.
I just do what looks good.

But yeah I kinda did a mistake on that dude. I gave him a very light shade on his face and nose edge, but also on the other side of his clothes. Which means there is either 2 suns or a lamp over there.
But I will get better at this shading stuff, I usually learn from watching anime and other stuff.

all you have to do is imagine where the light is pointing at and go from there
